I am teaching those who want to directly invest in women’s projects about angel investing and the world of venture capital. Women are incredibly underfunded. Even when we get funding, a male-dominated cap table can push things in the wrong direction. Having a group of Aunties on the cap table can be very useful to keep a founder’s energy and vision intact. I’m equipping them with the vocabulary of the influential financial industry so they can move in spaces with authority. Anyone can be an angel investor. It doesn’t have to begin with a lot of money. Subject-matter expertise has value too. Understanding how this world works is itself a form of access.
